Catching Up

Tues 7/05 (this was posted late due to no connectivity):

After a slow start this morning, we really got busy: Phil got out a chain saw and felled a dead tree. Later while he and Paige went for haircuts, Bob cut the tree up and stacked it.
That is one of Phil's many "Tracksters" that the splitter is on.  We had the nicest weather day all month, with not even a sprinkle. As a result, Mt Mckinley came out to show itself off:
We figured the peak was 99 miles away (per the GPS).

We got to spend a lot of time enjoying the weather and visiting outside in our lawn chairs.
After a nice dinner in Wasilla, we did more sightseeing in the local area, followed by a last set of Cribbage games.

Mon 7/04 (again this was posted late due to no connectivity):

Happy Birthday USA!

The day started with our completing the cleaning of the motorhome. It is now as clean as it’s ever been. Then we loaded into Phil’s car for another tour; this time we went north to Talkeetna. This is a tourist-oriented town, mostly dedicated to the mountain climbers headed to Denali, but there is also a lot of coffee/ice cream/pizza places too. Princess Cruise Lines has a huge lodge here; one of many they have in Alaska.
Near Phil’s place is small settlement of Russian immigrants. This is too small to be a town, but they have their own school.
